Tahoe Ski Trip 2011

This is right after we arrived Friday afternoon. The kids were rerady to get out and play in the snow!!

They just had a big snow storm blow through.

This snow was too powdery to build a snowman with so the boys were a little bummed about that but they still had a blast!

Daddy is making snow balls in the back ground getting ready to get his kids.
Someone made a sledding hill right outside our condo. The kids loved sledding and it was the cheapest thing we did. A little more painful for the adults that tried it. Not much cushioning in those sleds!!

Grandma and I took the boys on a sleigh ride while Jason, Kayla and my dad went skiing. We're waiting our turn.

I think Grandma looks like little red riding hood in this picture.

On the sleigh ride, brrrr!! If you look very closely Lake Tahoe is in the background.

Keaton fed the horses a treat afterwards. Kaden was too nervous to feed them.

This is Kaden 's first attempt at ice skating. He did very well and had a ton of fun. It was much easier this time because Jason was there to help with the boys. We both held Kaden's hands and zoomed him around the rink.

Keaton asked and asked when are we going ice skating? Well, we finally made it there and he did good too. He can somewhat do it by himself now. Unforutnately, a little girl that was skating took a very hard fall. I'm not sure what she did but the paramedics were called and they eventually took her out on the stretcher. Must have been a broken collarbone or shoulder injury. Ouch!

Keaton ate a lot of Tahoe snow. Hopefully the animals were too cold to come out in it.

More sledding!! Mr. Daredevil himself. Kaden loves it rough and tough. He'd get thrown out of the sled or get taken out by Keaton and he'd just get right back up laughing.

Keaton must have been the ideal weight for those sleds because he flew down the hill and almost always went the farthest.

My dad and I taking a quick break from skiing to check on Kaden in his ski class.

Keaton getting ready to show us his new moves at the top of the hill.

I was impressed he did really well and seemed to be enjoying himself. Boy did he crash that night though. They wore him out. I think he enjoyed being with kids his own age.

I think they call this the pizza? That is what they tell them in ski school to learn how to snow plow.

He made it down without crashing!

Well, I'm sure by now everyone has pretty much heard Kayla's ski story. Unfortunately for her she had a bad fall her first day out and couldn't ski the rest of the week. She was going down a blue and it turned out to be much harder than they anticipated. It ended up being the hardest blue at the resort. Anyway, if you have ever skiied with Kayla you know she goes really fast and does not turn hardly at all. Well, that is what she was doing and it was just too steep for that. She lost control and just went zooming down the mountain. Jason said he was yelling to her to get her just to fall or turn or anything but she was in a panic. She fell and face first kept going down the mountain for a good 15 feet. Her skies did not pop off which is probably why her knee got so banged up.

She had to be brought down by the ski patrol, I think more because she was so scared after the fall than because she was hurt. That was the end of her skiing on this trip. So here we are at Urgent care a few days after her fall. Her knee was pretty swollen and she had a hard time walking on it. They said it was just a good twisting and said she should be okay in a few more days.

We've always heard about in and out burgers and I've been wanting to try it. It is an out west thing I guess. We thought it was really good! The menu cracked us up though. You had a choice between a hamburger, cheese burger, or a double cheese burger. That was it. Moral of this story is you better like burgers!! The boys would not be happy eating here!

Our last day Kayla really wanted to try to ice skate. She probably shouldn't have because of her knee but it was the last day of vacation and she pretty much hadn't been able to do anything else. She would go around a couple of times and then she would have to sit for a few minutes but i was glad she was able to do it some.

More sledding!!

Other people discovered our hill by this time and it was popular!

Kaden is too cute with his sled! One time he got all the way to the top of the hill with it and dropped the cord and it started sliding back down the hill and he was just running as fast as he could after it trying to catch it and finally he just dove on it. It was too cute and we couldn't stop laughing about it! He then had to climb all the way up the hill again with it.

Fun Pictures!!

Kaden is showing us his new trick!

Sleep over with Cousin Conner! They did not do too much sleeping...

My Falcon's Fans

So this is the ice storm of 2011 that closed schools for a week. As you can see not too much fun to play in but Kayla and Keaton were thrilled a getting an unexpected week off from school.

We could have turned in our driveway into an ice skating rink if we owned some ice skates!!

This is the windshield on Jason's car. We did lots of movie watching and drinking hot chocolate!

Lake Lanier Fantasy of Lights

After finishing our gingerbread houses we took the kids to Lake Lanier to see the Christmas Lights that night. That was our first time there and we liked it a lot better than Callaway.

Daddy is letting Kaden drive us. If Patrick sees this picture he will not be happy.

He had a blast driving and Keaton did for a little while too but my picture didn't come out too good of him. Luckily we were only going about 5 miles an hour:)

They had a ton of stuff to do there. They had a fair with all the rides, you could roast marshmallows, ride ponies, they also had a little petting zoo. Unfortumately it was freezing cold that night so way too cold to be out there to long. We let the boys ride the ponies and then went to get warmed up.

We had hot chocolate and funnel cake while we watched a short play on The Christmas Carol. Luckily that was indoors. The kids and adults had a blast!

Gingerbread Houses!

We have a tradition going for the past three years that we make gingerbread houses. Usually we do it on Christmas Eve and I usually have Patrick's kids do one too. Since we were having more family in town this Christmas I decided we just better do it before hand and not scare off my mom's family. With 5 boys making gingerbread houses it can get a little crazy and messy!!

Kaden is getting things going and he didn't want ANY help!!

Keaton's house was full of "shooter guns". Definitely a boy!

Grandma came to help and join in the fun! I usually just make them out of graham crackers but this year I found a kit to make a village of them so we all had a different shaped house.

Kayla hard at work. She didn't want me to take a pic because she was in her pj's and her hair wasn't done. Yes, we've reached that stage!

We had a blast making them and eating tons of candy in the process.

Thrashers!

We took the kids to a hockey game over their Christmas break. With Jason getting the free tickets and the cnn center food so close it is cheap entertainment for us!!
Kayla with her bff!

We're ready to see a good fight! Love it when they fight!

They ended up losing that game but we had tons of fun anyway.

The boys favorite part is whenever the thrashers score fire shoots out of the mouth of the thrasher hanging in the stadium.

Way, Way Behind....

Kaden's Preschool that he goes to had a breakfast with Santa! They got to visit with Santa, get their picture taken, eat all the pancakes, sausage, bacon, fruit that they wanted, and then they had a bunch of fun activities that they could do. It was for the whole family to come and have fun.

They got to decorate a cookie!!

They had face painting and everyone else seemed to go with a Christmas theme Keaton wanted Spider man so that is what he got.

Nice web! Kaden could not be talked into getting his face painted.

He made a Christmas card instead and was very proud of his work!!

They had someone making balloon animals for every kid. The line was like a mile long and it definitely was the fave. I imagine that guy was good and ready to be done after three hours of that. By the way don't pay attention to my background!! I'm having issues with changing it. Jo- help I think I deleted something:(
